Just like our makeup, all of our makeup tools and brushes have a shelf life, too. Cleaning your brushes and makeup bag gets rid of any bacteria on that could cause breakouts, irritation, or inflammation of the skin. It also helps to keep bacteria out of your makeup, especially in your powder blushes, foundation, and eye shadows.
Makeup Brushes: 1-3 years, depending on the quality of the brushes. You want to clean your brushes weekly (if not daily) in a cup of water and gentle soap/shampoo. You can lay them flat to dry on a towel. About once a wash them in alcohol and let them dry standing up. Every 2-3 months, wash your big brush (foundation and blush) in conditioner as well.
Make Up Bags: As long as you like, but you need to clean the inside every 1-2 months at the latest. You can do this by wiping them with an antibacterial wipe or a baby wipe.
Stay tuned for how long to keep your beauty tools and how to clean them.
