What’s the biggest faux pas when it comes to looking good in the morning, every morning no matter what? Make up – check, outfit – check, hair – “Wa, Wa.. Ah man!” You know this is true too! When you are having a good hair day, you feel it and people see it. Hair goes hand in hand with how you feel about your looks. Last weekend, I went out and felt amazing. My make up was on point, my outfit was dope, I had the “domi” heels on, but when I got to the club and checked my hair, I instantly gave up. It was so flat and lifeless. I realized I needed to find remedies for thicker hair!! Here are the top 3 DIY remedies for thicker hair; I think sound the most promising. (You be the judge!) The websites I got these ideas from have way more remedies for thicker hair!!! Here is the first one & here is the second.
Ok, let’s go…
Coconut Oil Scalp Massage – Yes, this super hero is back in action!!! Seriously this oil is crazy amazing.
1-3 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil (depending on hair length)
1 Bowl Warm Water
Rub some of the oil in your hands until warm + liquified. Massage all over scalp with fingertips, working your way down through you hair. Once your hair is saturated, continue to massage your scalp for 15- 20 mins. This will help blood circulation!! Take the towel and place in warm water (NOT HOT). Ring out the excess water and wrap hair up. Let sit for 30 mins and wash hair with shampoo.
Skip the towel all together, and with a shower cap, sleep in oil. Rinse and shampoo in the morning!!!
Either way can be done 2-3x a week.
Avocado Hair Mask– Both of these can be done once a week.
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil or 2 Tablespoons Wheatgerm Oil
Simple, simple!! Mash and mix the avocado, banana, and olive oil together. Saturate hair and leave for 30 mins, rinse + shampoo.
Mash avocado and wheatgerm oil. Apply this mixture on freshly shampooed hair for 20 mins, rinse + shampoo.
Indian Gooseberry (aka Amla)– I’ll try anything for Indian hair. It’s not a race thing, it’s just a fact, they have freaking amazing hair.
1 Tablespoon Indian Gooseberry or Amla Powder
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
Soft Clean Cloth
1 Quart Warm Water
1/2 Cup Indian Gooseberry Powder
For the first set of ingredients, heat coconut oil and Indian Gooseberries (or Amla Powder) until boiling. Strain oil with clean cloth, and massage into scalp before bed. Rinse + shampoo in the morning! Feel free to try this on a weekly basis.
For the second set of ingredients, mix the warm water and powder and let sit for 10 mins. Saturate your hair with the paste for 15-20 mins. Rinse but DO NOT shampoo for a few hours. Only try this every few weeks.
Also, it should be said that you can ingest the Indian gooseberry fruit + it’s extract as a dietary supplement for healthy hair as well.
I seriously cannot wait to try these remedies for thicker hair! To really gauge how well it works, I plan on doing progress photos over the course of a couple months! Have you ever used any of these remedies? What has worked for you to get thicker beautiful locks??? Share your secrets!
